White Rabbit Megaways: Game Overview
Released in October 2017, White Rabbit Megaways is built around an Alice in Wonderland theme, based on Lewis Carroll's novel. Developed by Big Time Gaming, the game features a 5-reel, 2-to-7-row layout and offers up to 248,832 Megaways to win. Bets range from as low as 10p/c to as high as $20 per spin.
Gameplay and Mechanics
White Rabbit Megaways is built on the Megaways engine, where the number of symbols and paylines on the reels changes with each spin for unpredictable gameplay. The 5-reel arrangement carries 2–7 symbols on each reel, providing up to 16,807 ways to win during the base game. During the bonus round, reels can expand up to 12 symbols high, pushing ways to win up to 248,832.
Symbols
The reels are filled with characters from Lewis Carroll's stories, including Tweedledum and Tweedledee, the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter, and the Dodo. The Red Queen is the highest-paying symbol, offering 25x of the total bet size. Standard card-rank low symbols also appear on the reels.
Special Features
Caterpillar Multiplier Wilds
Randomly in the base game, the Caterpillar character to the side of the reels can blow up to 12 smoke rings on his hookah pipe. Each ring landing on the reels adds a Bonus Wild. Up to 4 Bonus Wilds are available, each carrying a 2x or 3x multiplier. If multiple multipliers apply to a single win, their values are multiplied together.
Rabbit Hole Free Spins
Landing 3 White Rabbit scatters on the middle reels triggers 15 free spins. During the feature:
- Cupcake symbols increase the height of their reel by +1 for the rest of the bonus, up to 12 rows.
- When a reel reaches 12 rows, the Queen's Reel activates, awarding +2 to +12 extra spins, and that reel holds only Red Queens and Wilds for the remainder of the feature.
- Wild symbols in the free spins carry random multipliers; when a Wild contributes to a win, its multiplier is applied to the payout, and multiple Wilds in a single win multiply their values together.
- Retriggers are possible, with up to 75 free spins achievable in total.
Feature Drop (Bonus Buy)
White Rabbit Megaways was the first Big Time Gaming slot to use a Bonus Buy element. Not available in some countries such as the UK, it allows players to buy directly into the Rabbit Hole Free Spins feature for 100x their total bet. The full cost is 100 times the stake, though Feature Drop symbols collected during gameplay lower the price by 0.2x to 2x each time one lands. The RTP increases to 97.77% when the Feature Drop is purchased at full price.
